Winter Shopping Events

Did you miss our Trunk Show as the Shawsheen Tech Fall Fair? That’s Ok! We have a few more upcoming shopping events to get you ready for your gift giving season. All of our upcoming events are in the wonderfully historical artistic hub of Lowell, MA. So if you’ve been planning a trip to Mill City for a while now, here’s a few more excuses to stop in.

And before we get into these awesome events, can we just talk about something for a second? I know a lot of you out there are shopping at the big chain stores for your gift giving needs. And I get it. It’s easy and familiar. However, shopping local is VERY important! Not only does it support local businesses, artists, and makers, but it supports your local economy as well! Check out this fun fact from madeintheusachallenge.com:

Ok, so now that we’ve dropped a little knowledge on you, here’s how you can get that warm fuzzy feeling that you can only get from shopping local and supporting local artists!

~

Firstly, we have Holiday Open Studios at Western Avenue Studios (which is the largest artists’ community in the United States, incase you haven’t heard). All of us artists have been gearing up for the upcoming Holiday season, working on overdrive to provide you with one of a kind, handmade gifts! Unlike most months where we are open only on the first Saturday, there are 4 days for you to choose from in December! If you can’t make it out on Saturday, December 3rd, you can stop by on Sunday, December 4th or Saturday the 10th or Sunday the 11th; all open from 12 – 5 pm. A lot of people often mention to me that one day isn’t long enough to see the entire building; so if you’re one of those hardcore art lovers, I’d probably set aside an entire weekend.

Jack Attackk Clothing is in studio 223, and we’ll have a new selection of two-toned raglan tops and widow’s peak skirts, as well as tote bags and winter accessories that will make great gifts for the fashion lover in your life. We just debuted our tote bags at the Shawsheen Tech Fall Fair and they were our most popular item, so we’ll be making a ton more for your shopping pleasure! You can also (as always) choose from our signature t-shirts and fashion show samples. If you need a new dress for a holiday party, we’ve got you covered! We’ll be offering 20% off our cocktail dresses to help you make a statement at your next winter event.

Whether you’re looking for gifts, a new piece of art for yourself, or just looking for a good time, Western Ave is a great place to go. And not only are you getting amazing and unique pieces, your supporting local businesses and your local economy. Shopping local helps everyone involved. And when you’re purchasing local art, you’re buying a little piece of the artist. They’ve put their heart and soul into these pieces and nothing could be cooler than taking something that has that much love put into it home with you.

You can learn more about Western Avenue Studios here. And for more about this Open Studios you can check out the official Facebook event here (first weekend) and here (second weekend).

If a weeknight works better for your schedule, you can stop by COOL Place for their Thursday Night Trunk Show Series on December 8th to shop both Jack Attackk Clothing and Walk on the Moon Jewelry (my awesome neighbor at Western Ave). There are also a bunch of other cool artists showing there in the weeks leading up to the 8th if you want to make it a weekly activity!

At our trunk show, we’ll have a selection of our T-shirts, tote bags, skirts and tops, as well as some knit and crocheted goods to help keep you warm and stylish this winter! There’ll be light refreshments and pretty cool company (if I do say so myself), so make a night of it with your friends! COOL Place will also have all of their regular stock available to choose from, and it is literally all local artisans selling their stuff. So if you can’t make it to Open Studios, this is basically a mini version of that event that’s open all the time.

You can get more info about COOL Place here, and check out the Facebook event for the Trunk Show here.

I look forward to seeing some familiar and some new faces! Remember to shop small this Holiday season and year round!
